NORCAL
I just returned from a TDY to a really great place… Monterey CA. Monterey is one of my favorite places in the U.S. It was strange being back there after 13 years. For the first time I really felt and understood “youth is wasted on the young.” Although I know I really enjoyed my time there when I was 19, I am certain the depth and sincerity of my appreciation is greater now. I drove all over: 17 mile drive, Carmel, Asilomar Beach, Pebble Beach, Big Sur. I even stopped on the side of the Pacific Coast Hwy and sat on a cliff overlooking the shore and played my guitar for about an hour. Being in Monterey made me realize how much I miss culture. There was a farmer’s market day where they closed down the main street for vendors of fresh veggies, soap, music, candles, imports, food, books, and there were plenty of street performers. It made me realize how culturally empty Las Vegas is. Although it’s not a bad deal being stationed here, I look forward to going back to a real place. If you ever have the chance go to Monterey.
P.S. – I just learned something very strange about our house. Ask if you’re interested.
P.S.2 – Pauline – There are short captions on the pictures just for you. Hope you like the site more now.

Beautiful pix of Monterey, etc. Nothing as pretty as the sun setting on the Pacific – we visited there on our way to Korea. And thanks for the captions. Love you.
