Since the last post I’ve made another trip to Belize (see previous post), the in-laws visited, we took the kids to see their Great-Grandma again and the kids are into swim lessons. Summer is in FULL SWING!!! New Braunfels is an awesome place for kids to spend summer. We hit Schlitterbahn frequently, we’ve been fishing at Canyon Lake, been to the Guadalupe River to escape the heat and made the back porch BBQ the supper of choice. Zoe’s finger was slammed in a HUGE metal door. Her finger burst open. At the ER she got stitches and they drilled a hole in her nail to relieve pressure. She was pretty tough. That was a $1300 ER visit. YEAH AMERICAN HEALTH CARE!!! Where else can you get 3 stitches for such a bargain price? (Vote Libertarian) Now her fingernail has fallen off. More road trip stuff planned for the 4th and a trip to Belize in August… standby for pictures.
Here a a few of the sights and people around the town of San Ignacio Belize.
Bryce earned his yellow belt last week. I don’t know how often I’ve seen him that proud. This weekend I took the kids to San Angelo. They went wild at the mention of going to see Gahga; and for good reason… they played twister, roller bladed, were fed eggs – toast – bacon – ham – strawberries – cinnamon rolls (etc) daily, sprayed with silly string, read books, listened to tapes, played with their cousin Rachel, played Battleship, played cards and basically played until they passed out. In fact, Sunday night Zoe sat down for dinner and fell asleep sitting at the table in front of her food (I’ve never seen that). They also got to see Cindy, Caitlyn, Mark and Carrie. On a sad note, this was the 9th anniversary of the passing of our first son. We went to his grave and talked about him and to him. Bryce is getting old enough to understand. So after all this we drove home and the kids slept for two straight hours. Something only a parent would appreciate – Zoe stopped me on both trips so she could go to the bathroom. BIG kudos fell on her. The hill country is BEAUTIFUL right now. All the wildflowers and bluebonnets are in bloom. When we got home the kids got my camera and started taking pictures… creative!
I bathe them, brush their hair and teeth, feed them and play with them… no worries. BTW – the other day we drove past a dead skunk. Zoe says, “I smell sunting… NO skunk in my teef cuz I brush dem.”
Bryce made a stick horse for school. He will probably skip first grade and go straight to second grade next year. He competed in his first Karate tournament a couple of weeks ago and got first place (everybody got first or second place). 6 year olds and martial arts is a funny thing to watch. The tournament was more like “whack-a-mole” than karate. Lisa is in Tokyo right now for her final Air National Guard tour. Sounds like she is having a good time. (We miss you). We still have many little projects left around the house. We finally have a permanent front door, grass and some tile work finished. The trees are all in bloom here in Texas. The view is great from the back porch.

We’ve been in the new place a couple of months now. We dig it. We went to OOOOOOkalhoma to see Grandma and PaPaw. Grandma got a little cancer but we know she’ll kick its ass. (We love you!) Bryce is learning to be a Ninja. I gave up the testoterone fueled diesel truck and got a Mazda 3. I’m all about opposite ends of the spectrum. The 3 is fun and I’m 7 years younger now. Zoe is a monster. Lisa es bueno. Gordy is old. Todd’s head is funny.

November… month of birthdays – for Lisa, Bryce and Zoe. Grandma Carter made awesome cakes. Took another trip to Belize – this time saw Xunantunich ruins. We’re moving into the new house – it’s not quite finished. Went to see Great-Grandma Carter.

Halloween was fun. The neighborhood had a big Halloween celebration in the park. They have a costume contest, jumping castle, haunted house and kids trick or treat there (because we all live too far apart). Zoe was da fuzz and Bryce got nabbed. We carved pumpkins.
I spent another weekend working on the friggin house. I think the Empire State Building was finished in less time. Trim and counters are in. Next the final plumb and a month’s worth of minutia touch-up crap. I’m looking forward to being DONE.
Today is Lisa’s birthday. She’ll be 21 again. She had guard duty (what’s new?). Tonight we’ll go to Gruene River Grill on the Guadalupe. I’ve prepared a note for our server so he/she will know to bring the birthday dessert without the retarded fanfare. That’s my only gift to her… no dishes. I rock!

Haven’t posted since B-man’s first day of school. Here are a couple photos from the big day. Also went to birthday parties for the Mullett and Hammack kids. Floors are in the house and the deck is built. Trim and counters are going in now. After the plumbing and touch up paint the house will be done (except landscape). Bryce went to the New Braunfels Police Department to interview an officer for a class report. He went in a police car, saw a S.W.A.T. vehicle, processing area and the works. The report went well. He’s in a high reader club and in a gifted program. He’s read over 30 books this year. Zoe is crazy. Oh, and I went TDY to the Air Force Academy and Lisa was strip searched so the Texas Air National Guard could be sure she was free of gang tattoos.

The past couple of months have been pretty busy. I took some friends down to Belize to see the property. I love it down there. At only $290 for a round trip ticket you can’t beat it. Then we went to Ohio for Lisa’s 20 YEAR reunion. Man did I feel young. She had classmates with kids in college! While in Ohio we got to visit with grandparents, greatgrandparents, and Bryce and Zoe’s new cousin, Kira. I also got to paint our brother-in-law, Tracy’s, new demolition derby car. Good fun. We also saw the prison where they filmed Shawshank Redemption and went to a guy’s house with a yard full of Yaks, bulls, camels, emus, llamas and turtles that bite your toes. Back in Texas, the house we’re building now has cabinets, lights, plugs and switches. Next week we’ll get the electricity hooked up. All that’s left is floors, appliances, finish plumbing, trim work and a deck. Crazy! We also went to Bryce’s school and met his new Kindergarten Teacher. She seems nice. Bryce starts school Monday. We also had a party for all our International students from my work here at the house. There were guys from India, Pakistan, Morocco, Korea, Egypt and Malaysia. The Pakistani dude got drunk and passed out in my yard. Life is interesting.
